I wrote this poem this morning and yet I'm still not sure what I think of it. A Quiet Inner World I’ve known some guys who seem to have a quiet inner world, not calm – more like a dead zone like a place cut off from light. They’ve worked and done the minimum their duties have required, and then its seems they’ve just turned off or had no stomach for the fight. These guys unnerve me – frighten me they are so happy in the dark, simplicity is one thing but to seek no more from life? I’ve dug quite hard to find their souls I’ve questioned them at length they claim no interest in philosophy they have their work, a home, and wife. I have no reason to dislike them, they’ve no evil I can sense – and yet they’re living breathing zombies with no purpose they can name. Life is short and yet there’s much we can discover in our time, so many mysteries to solve and so much more to spark the flame. I just can’t fathom such complacency – such utter disregard for I could not survive without my inner world in play. And so I wonder if some trauma is behind their inner chill they are yet another mystery and for them I will pray. |

In regard to why you are not quite sure on why you are still thinking about this, it struck me here... They’ve worked and done the minimum their duties have required, and then its seems they’ve just turned off or had no stomach for the fight. When people do just the minimum...we are all left shrugging our shoulders, and picking up the load... good thinking here... |
