I think I've lost the way
between the poet and the pen.
The words that once just flowed
have seemed to reached the end.
I struggle now to find the time
to write what this heart feels
and the words slip past my fingers
without ever touching ground.
I can taste the sweetness of the song
but can't seem to read the notes.
Too many others wanting
Too many others needs
I've lost my sense of me
It's like a fog I'm drifting through
that never seems to lift
Icy on my inner skin that sunshine
never reaches
I need to find the poet
the one I used to know so well
to set me back upon the path
scattered with words and thoughts
just waiting to flow together.
I think I've lost the way
between the poet
and the pen.

I seem to have this same feeling once or twice a day. Lovely poem.

life always gets in the way of good poetry writing

it's good to schedule in some quiet time every day

just know you are not alone

I think we all have the tendancy to feel that way from time to time...I know I do many a time

Paula, I know the feeling .. you are definitely not alone   We all go through it at some time, some of us wander in that fog longer than others .. but we always find the sunshiney spot where the words flow to the page again.
