She'll Never Love You Like I Do

I saw you just the other night;
two bodies outlined in the light.
You held her near you, tight and close,
there by our old house on the coast.
As I watched you from afar -
each kiss, each move  - opened a scar
each touch, each laugh - a skip in time
that took me back when you were mine.

I was helpless but to stare
while her hands ran through your hair.
I longed to touch your skin, your face;
wishing I could just erase
every moment, every day,
since you left and went away.
You once were mine and I was yours;
now you’re not, for you are hers.

I heard you found another love -
someone that you were so proud of;
so I had to come and see.
Remember when that once was me?
Friends say I have to let you go
and I will, but this I know;
no matter how she treats her man -
she can’t love you like I can

I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten,but I've loved another with all my heart and soul,and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S

Very, very beautifully written, Ruth.
Even though it is sad, it is still so pretty.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice...and yet...no matter how much we love someone...what value does it have...if they don't love us in return...James

How sad that... all too often... that really doesn't matter.

Beautiful work, dear lady!
