Poetry in Me

It’s watching Arnie drive at Oakmont
   or eyeing Larry nail a three
   or spotting Magic in the open court
   it’s all Poetry to me.

I’ve seen Maddux nip the corners
   I’ve seen Ali float and sting
   I’ve seen Lance attack the mountains
   I’ve heard the wondrous Ella sing.

There is a joy to our creation
   as such near perfection flows
   so many stars up in the heavens
   may their brilliance always glow

And me I’ll find my own way
   to illuminate that sea
   and I’ll do it using language
   cuz, there’s Poetry in Me.
