Someone once asked me
how it could be
I had 100% success
transplanting
the Matilija Poppy.

My reply surprised them,
caught them completely
off guard, mouth agape.

"I ask the plant for permission
to remove it from its preferred native spot.
Would it allow me to repot
it in a temporary home
while carefully preparing
the ground in its new home?

I always ask permission,
then give the best I know
to encourage the young roots to anchor deeply
yet spread their branches and bloom freely
before God and all mankind."

I’ve done the same
with my daughter.
Gaia's smile graces both.

This made me smile

I don't have any luck with planting or growing things. My mom had the green thumb but it didn't get passed down to me, for sure.

Midnitesun,

That is a very good idea to ask permission, both of plants, and of people.  It’s a good way to stay out of trouble.

This is a grand-lovely 'write'!...
[finely personal and universal in
  simultaneity in many ways]

and, I also love Robert Jordan's reply as well!

long-sustained applause!!
