No one runs with love “no more”
but kick, kick, kick, the flesh
and score from way behind the line
like a far and distant relative
would claim an inheritance
from unknown kith and kin.

Even set ups for a try always go awry
and adept the twists and turns
in avoidance of
meaningful encounters.

And boundaries mapped out
never bend or move
to enlarge the playing area
for two minds entwined
because the body, just the body,
can only go so far.

Two sides to every story
when the whistle blows
and throw-ins lend no credence
to love’s faithfulness.

‘tis but a game; attack, defend,
that never sticks around
because when all is said and done,
no one runs with love!

Believe it or not, even though I am not into sports I fully understood this and agree.

Intense write, like the game itself.
But I think love is the most beautiful thing in the universe.
Not a game, even though there are those who do play to win.
What, I’m not sure, but they play to be the victor, at any cost.  Then life is over, and there are no real winners.

Enjoyed the write.

Thanks Paullallady and JL for the read.  Yes, love is the most beautiful thing in the universe but maybe we'll only appreciate its true worth when "life is over" ... and then we'll forget again.

Really hit home for me.  I am still and always will be a hopeless romantic, no matter how many scars I have I still believe in running with Love. Give all, or give nothing. Thanks for the write.

Thanks WW and ladylisa - glad you enjoyed.  Guess I'm also a romantic - just found out too late in life for it to make a difference.

Well, Honey, I'd say you made a touchdown with this write!

The players may change, but the game of love is always worth playing!

Loving hug,
Linda
