You ask of me To set them free When submission Is their seed But should I die Amid the lie They want us there Not greed Must I toil For Exxon's oil And corporate Bottom line Say our flag Will never sag For profit It will shine It's such a fight To sleep at night What cost The ordered deeds Midnight screams Horror scenes Spills blood Of other creeds By force of will I am, here still Praying To my God On one blue moon Standing soon And share A saddened nod mr_alleycat |

. http://www.web-books.com/Classics/Poetry/anthology/Arnold_M/Last.htm . Substitute “For lucre’s goal” for “For Exxon's oil” and make it timeless John . |
