It is a far way
From the mouth of a cave

Just beyond
The lace curtained
Picture window
Little birds are pecking seeds
Out of a feeder hung from a tree

This morning’s first light
Dapples the floor
The summer flowers
Clothes strewn on a chair

And still
This is how
It might have been
When man then became
More than just another beast

The breath
Of that somehow
Special someone
Being the breeze
As changed
The world for him

Bringing beauty
Into his heart
