On A Journey To The Unknown

A True Friend

Today, I think back to those times
You said you'd always be there
We were friends, is what you told me
You said you would always care

A true friend doesn't just turn away
As if we had never even met
Just because of a misunderstanding
Friendships are ones that are kept

Maybe, you didn't feel the same as me
Maybe, friendships don't mean as much
All I can say to you now, my dear friend
Is that it was my heart you had touched

I don't need a "so called" friend who is
Going to say such unkind things to me
All those things you had said back then
Had caused such pain inside you see

I had opened up my heart in friendship
And thought that your was just as true
Just to find out, that it wasn't as important
As what I had given to you

Still today, I find myself sitting here
Just thinking of, and missing you
And, wishing that you had felt the same
As I had felt towards you, too

Good friends know how to mend fences...

so here's to them.  The others, well,
they just never knew ye!

Nice writing...I have found that while casual friends may be many, close friends, the kind you can believe in and trust, are few, but to be treasured when found...James

Good morning, Sweet Sue. There are friends of the road ~ and then there are friends for life. With the latter, misunderstandings never stand in the way of the relationship. Love, mutual respect, and open communication hold the friendship together.

I doubt that she ever really knew you, because to know you is to surely love you!

A sad, yet sweet, reflective write.

With love & a friendship hug,

Linda

Sue, I learned long ago that there are many different levels of friendship and that each person has their own definition of one...some just need to have you near when they need someone...and others  know how to return a friendship...I was told neither are correct or wrong...and you have to be able to accept that which is given, even if not what we would want in return.

This touched, this is sad and well written.  Friendships can be so complicated at times...
