Felix wants to join the settlement house. He’s heard all kind of stories about what you do at the settlement house. Butch, Wawa, and Richey, they all tell him: “Join the settlement house.” “You get to go to summer camp when it’s steaming hot in the city. In winter, they keep the settlement house warm, it’s a good place to spend your time in the winter. Way better than hanging out in the cold.” Then they tell him, it cost fifty cents to join. Guess what, Felix doesn’t have fifty cents, he has no chance of coming across fifty cents. He sees no fifty cents on his horizon. He’s not crazy enough to ask his foster Dad for fifty cents. Instead, he talks to Richey. Richey’s an expert when it comes to money. Richey tells him how to get fifty cents. Felix gets his fifty cents. Felix walks into the settlement house. He talks to the guy in charge, gives him fifty cents. The guy asks where Felix got fifty cents. Felix says— “I got it from a friend.” Now Felix is part of the settlement house. Drauntz, Thanks for reading and commenting. Felix already has a very strong character, he was born with it. The settlement house will make him even stronger. Bobby [This message has been edited by Robert Jordan (05-22-2007 07:17 PM).] |

Secondhanddreampoet, Thanks for the kind words. The settlement house was a wonderful place, in particular during the winter. It was reliable. You always had a place to go, all year round. Magnus, I’m very happy this series of poems is bringing back memories for you. I hope they are pleasant or at least suitable memories. The settlement house was a wonderful experience. Bobby |
