Lumpy Oatmeal makes me Crazy!

What if life became simply
a gradient of pastel plaids?
Our existence seeping into
fabrics of madras,
as our emotions blanch
to become watered-down versions
of who we once were.
And we become
old ladies with pink
cotton candy wispy hair
hose bagging at our knees
as we gingerly push our shopping
carts down aisle 3-b
and reminisce about the days
when our lives were
a rainbow of clashing, vibrant silks
and we made love 'til dawn.
Sadly, we wonder when the colors
of passion became saturated
in forgotten dreams.
