This life drags on too slow for me, God, can we just jump to the end? Why must I keep trudging on without a chance in hell to mend? I'm bruised and angry and beaten now, there's no place for me here, defeat leaves me unable to taste even the sourness of fear. If I didn't think I'd fail it too, I'd push myself across the finish line, throw my hands up in victory as I drank the last sips of wine. I'm tired and it all feels hopeless, love is nothing but a dream, and life leaves me ill and blue so much so, I cannot scream. No one would hear it anyhow, no stranger nor a friend, and God, all I pray is this... let me jump on to the end. |

I believe that I was in a similar place a few years ago...not sure if there are any shortcuts...I do know that if you find yourself not liking the road you are traveling on, there are other roads, or should I say, other choices... Do something good for yourself...you deserve it...James |

Dear Dixie, you have surely spoken to my soul, for so often I feel just the same way, just for something wonderful to happen would be a complete blessing in itself, having what appears all you need is nothing if what you have inside is void of love and meaning. I so often wish for retirement, but that is so many years away and I know I should not be wishing my life away. I think of complete change, to leave what brings the misery and walk a completely different road, to live on the edge for a while and really taste life. In truth without my poetry, photography and loving daughter I too would be pushing for the finish line. I believe we just need the strength to ask ourselves the hard questions and go with what we believe would bring us happiness. You try and I'll try my friend and we'll see how we both get on. In much the same boat dear Dixie. Don't jump overboard until you learn to swim, cos there's an island just over there. Have a wonderful, wonderful day my friend. Rick |

Dixie, a tough poem that touches the heart. That most lovely daughter of yours in the picture surely wants you and needs you to accompany her through her life. May you find the strength to cope with life's challenges. Of course we all have some really dark days, but it is not a permanent mood, because we are not walking alone through life, we are sustained. Oh, my... Your words have been my thoughts so often... There's a couple of lines in a John Mellencamp song "life goes on... long after the thrill of living is gone"... I say AMEN and wonder why... Strong, powerful work!! |
