I'm thinking about you now, as I prepare to wear my cap and gown. This is something I didn't think you would miss, now, the reality hits. I remember leaving you in that cold and sterile room at night, and when the rain would fall, you would ask me to leave the window open, you loved the sound. That's something I'll never forget, and every time I see the clouds darken, I listen for you. The rain is falling now, and I can't believe all the time that has gone by since you past. Here I am, all grown up, with memories of you and my childhood stuck in my head. I remember everything about you, the pain you felt before you died, and the tired look that you couldn't hide. I've got all of your things, and your picture has a permanent place in my room, but it's not the same. And as I continue to get older, I wish I could see you one more time, though that would never be enough. I wonder if you would be proud of who I have become, or shake your head at some of the things I've done. But until I see you again, I'll open the windows and listen for the rain, It's a beautiful sound that brings back your beautiful memory. And I'll clutch my diploma tight, and stare up at the sky, I hope you have a front row seat. |

Your poem has a special place for me, as I miss my mother every day and wish that I could see her one more time as well. This is a beautiful poem. Felt it to my bones. |
