How The World May Be Changed Before you hang me, know this: I have no agenda. Before you distrust me, know this: I have no support. Before you read me, know that I am schooled, then self-educated. Before you ignore me, know that I am a human. Before you stop reading, continue on… Do not hate me because I choose not to fall prey to the media who are self-perpetuating; Do not hate me because I believe in your rights, and yet in some of your beliefs, I may disagree, offering conversation; Do not hate me because I believe in this country; fought for by our ancestors; Do not hate me because I believe that any person who has been elected by the majority deserves the right to be called by their privileged title. Do not hate me because my walls are thin; nor if my walls are thick. This is called individualism. Do not hate me if I desire to believe in what you cannot see. This is called spiritualism. Do not hate me if I spend my earnings in ways that suit myself. This is called economics. Do not listen to me, even if I make sense. Think for yourself, with something akin to compassion and understanding. Do not listen, unless you are pulled into yet another quagmire, for I would not have you stone me, if my beliefs are not yet yours, or yours, mine. Yet, offer…conversation. Hate me, if you will, and should, if I take a life, for no good reason. For I believe that all beings are not sheep; I believe that all humankind share a beginning and an end; I believe that a rule must exist, or we shall all be destroyed; I believe that humankind can co-exist, as do men and women, even through argument… I believe in a force, a God, a being…. because it gives credence to some type of an established order, and that such stability is for the good of all, providing everyone a voice. It is, to me, too simple. That is why I will not exist beyond the time when the sun is struck by your rock, ignored by your beliefs, deprived by your intellect, or even called … depraved. For I believe in the good of You… in some deep knowledge that what you know, what you were taught, could be wrong, or right. And I allow as to that acceptance, knowing that you live to breathe for some reason outside my ken. This, I know, and in this, I believe. " It matters not this distance now " Excerpt, Yesterday's Love |

"don't hate me" I say... do whatever you want based on your believe and let the "hate" come...no way to control other people's thinking. enjoyed the poem |

Dear friend, This is one of those poems I can easily see being placed on e-mail lists and sent around the world. Such truer words have never been spoken Ruth I am nothing special...and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me,this has always been enough.~N.S |

Such a challenge to live the humane life in the unhumane world. When we communicate, we love, when we love, we connect, and there is PEACE. Blessings Joseph |

Kari darling heart, Oh my what an incredible piece darling one. Jean-Jacques Rousseau, 1712-1178 , French philosopher, writer, and political theorist whose treatises and novels inspired the leaders of the French Revolution and the Romantic generation. Believed that man was born good and was corrupted by society, check out his Discourse on the origin of inequality, if you really want to understand what he was most famous for. It seems to me that you’ve written a pretty good discourse yourself, tell me darling one are you taking Philosophy? A stunning piece, with much thought provoking material. You just know I love your writing don’t you? as always Mushy x x x x x x x Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds |

Karilea, I agree wholeheartedly!! It seems some people are never open to anothers thoughts and beliefs. If not their own, they are close-minded. I am so glad we are from a free country that allows for our own thoughts and convictions. Hugs, Ethel |

Nothing like discussion, understanding and acceptance of the other-minded to grow in spirit and help create a better world. Just like you said! Love You Much! Shenachie |

Do not listen to me, even if I make sense. Think for yourself, with something akin to compassion and understanding. Even in the midst of so many wise words, these shine... if only they were heeded!!! Excellent write! |

Whilst I know you didn't really mean this only personally, I just have to say - WHO in all this world, could ever hang, distrust, ignore, stop reading or hate our Karilea! This wonderfully inspiring poem is you, Karilea, with your outer and inner beauty, your wisdom, your compassion, your faith in goodness, your optimism and your necessity in our lives! (I don't want to make light of your poem, but I just have to put in a good word for my good friends, sheep! It is just a perception that they aren't individuals! I do, however, realise that you were just using them as an image. Smiles!) - Owl |

If true tolerance existed the world would change. Well written, Karilea. |
