~~~~ Her perpetual smile doesn't fool me It's just a lipsticked facade - grand illusion - pure fantasy. What does she hope to gain from this ruse? Acceptance, approval - Or a heart that can't bruise? Maybe true romance - Her place in the sun. Not just a "one night" Who mocks - "That was fun." Is this what she dreams of - This woman yet girl? With looking glass eyes Ruby lips upward curled. "All this and more." She prays silently. As she primps in the mirror - Her reflection is me. . . . Chris Barker June 2003 ~~~ |

Oh Chrislane, my chrislane... so dear to me, you are. And thank you for reposting this, this is you, and if lipstick is ruse, then egads woman--I glue shiny stuff on my face, and wear body art "tattoes", glasses that scream look AT me, and fringe and sequins and tiaras--but I could never commit to the permanancy of tattoes though. (or is that tattoos?) TATS  Howzzat?You need none of this, you remind me of a little wildflower that you only find if you are looking carefully, and brush aside the overgrowth of brasher, bolder greenery. Like...a ghost orchid.  smile so very lovely (and if you write me, I'll tell you what I know of the history and purpose of lipstick) |
