This is a repost from November 2001, because I'm time/space warping today, as I often do during seasonal changes.
Yesterday, all the cherry blossoms were blown/rained off the trees, and now cover the ground with a wet, fading pinkish-brown blanket.

Deep into the corners of my mind
I hide from constant input,
short-circuited from
synaptic overload.
Unable to filter out
all the background noises
that shatter the glass walls
I've been hiding behind.
Prisms of light scattered,
prisoner of fright, battered
by human hatred and pain,
tortured minds and bodies,
all in the name of God.
Is it any wonder that
I sit and wonder if
there is a God?
If there is,
do I want to know Him?
Then I gaze at my teenager
sitting quietly reading about
the life of entertainer Marilyn Manson,
and at JRT Skippy dog snoozing
peacefully on the bed,
not a worry in his head
'cept where he hid
that big bone yesterday.
And when tomorrow comes,
today will be history,
another day to cram into memory banks
that are already overflowing
from synaptic overload.
And I suddenly feel as if I am about to explode,
and sink into a black hole in outer space.

Hi, Kacy!

"And when tomorrow comes,
today will be history.
Another one to cram into memory banks
that are already overflowing
from synaptic overload."

~ I do so know what you mean!!! However, I doubt that I could have expressed it as well as you have!

Giving you a big, springy hug,

Linda

Midnitesun Kacy:  How well I remember the adventures of you, Skippy and Sara.  (Do think She might be on Messenger and maybe we can talk).  How I remember about Skippy vicariously through you, though I never met him in dog-erson.  That must have been the summer it hit 90DG in Fairbanks.  "Sara has melted on the couch ... Skippy will not run ..."
Did you know that, in TX, it is illegal to pick bluebonnets, because it is the state flower of Texas?
Well, I picked them anyway, as doing a thing that is against the law is always more fun.  But then,  to my astonished bewilderment, and this was in the last weeks of my past life in Texas, that the flowers I was picking were not bluebonnets at all, the fragrance I attributed to bluebonnets was actually honeysuckle!  I was actually smelling honeysuckle!  It WAS a bit disappointing to know I had not been breaking the law all those years.  I'm not even sure, even today, whether bluebonnets have an identifiable scent.  Well, I'm sure they do; I just don't know what it was.  But all that would be water under the bridge; it was time to leave my life in Texas behind and sally forth headlong into a chaotic and uncertain future.
So How are you doing?  They have placed me on lithium and it is making me ravenously thirsty.
Hugs and abrazos
