What happens to a dream deferred? ~Langston Hughes if cookies get done and poems get finished what is love when it is over it does not feel finished I find it on the book shelf an artifact among the acorns we found in the cemetery and the i ching coins that I have not thrown in I can’t remember how long it lists about in dust behind the bathroom door waiting to whirl out and remind me god forbid I should forget it hides in moments when tomatoes lay red juicy waiting to be sliced for sandwiches love that is over lies on my tongue a knobby ball of fuzz I long to spit out and cannot seem to get rid of I read Langston in the still hours of the morning he asks about that damn dream deferred but alliteration does not help me maybe I should throw the i ching changes can be simple depending on the arrangement |

You know, I may be silly -- but I don't think that love is ever "over". I think we change and move on but the love remains. It's in our memories of chapters that we used to be. It's part of our life story. It's knowledge that we shared parts with another that will never be shared again. Love may grow with another - but I think that some of those parts are forever owned by another. Just as we "own" parts of other people -- that is just what I think. And I think I loved this poem in ways that I do not want to try to explain. Alison |

Oh yes we use to say "it is over", but it is never over, until a new one begins, then maybe ... And then the vibrations of love travel endlessly across universe and every now and then we collide with them again. Great poem, dear Lady, very original point of view. Love, Margherita |

Love, when it’s over, is..... A hole ripped through a soul that once was complete. The jagged hole that remains allows an icy, lonely wind to whip through it creating a moaning sound like that of an arctic wind crossing a deserted glacial plain of nothing but cold. The jagged part that remains is, once again, half of what it once was. An incomplete entity immediately searching with it’s spirit for the comfortable completeness of one soul sharing two bodies. The memory of what was remains like an echo reverberating in an empty hall. Ghostly shadows of the past. They will not be at rest until such time as the rend of the soul is repaired by a kindred spirit. Only then can they, the Ghosts, sleep and be laid to rest in the slumber of ‘warm memories’. When the complete soul, once again, inhabits and shares two bodies then love is born anew... and the ghosts of the past can sleep as a blissful memory. Milady Kate, your write touches deeply those of us who have been there and inspires great emotions that stir the Muse. Thank you for sharing. Your work is, as always, beautifully penned and amazingly thought provoking. It tantalizes the Soul and never fails to conjure a vision that adds to the mental tapestry. MoonShadow. . |

"it does not feel finished" A good love is never finished... see the motes of dust shine in the sun... a reminder that some love lived |

love that is over lies on my tongue a knobby ball of fuzz I long to spit out and cannot seem to get rid of thinking about it, I don't believe real true love is ever over, it simply changes... I loved the bittersweet moments this brought...beautifully done |

Ah but unlike cookies and poems, love can sneak back and bite you later. You can hurt all over again, but then, you can also laugh all over again too. And feel that sunshine on your skin, just like it was. I like this one, well done-good use of everyday images to tell the tale. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |

Ah ha!You all found me out! Yes! Love is never over... it hides only to sneak out in a poem or a song or a tear... and yes, dear Nan a laugh... |
