I Am Standing Behind You I am so busy Being busy …doing nothing That sometimes I forget To thank you For paying the rent That I might live In this Place of Freedom. I am just so quick To criticize Whilst forgetting You are just doing your job, Like any one else On the 9 to 5 trail, But with many extended hours In an extremely dangerous zone, And worse than deplorable conditions. I am so sick Of the tragedies of war, That fear of what could be Over-rides your courageous acts. I bluster away, Although I love this flag of freedom, How sad that in my stupidity I might unknowingly ...dishonor you. This makes me ashamed, I don't mean to taint your bravery With my worries and fears, My immaturity does not allow me To stay tuned into the News For it sorely troubles my sleep …and my heart. It is with lack of knowledge.. That the line between fear/stupidity And courage is so easily crossed. It is said 'Ignorance is Bliss' It really is not ...it shows my cowardly side. I am only ME I can not speak for the WE, Because I don't know them. I cry for you and pray for you, But truth be told I am a lousy prayer, Thank heavens He knows that And takes my word in anyway. I also cry and pray for those On the other side of the line, Because their losses and suffering Is no less than anyone else's. War is such a hard thing To come to terms with. It brings out the best in some And the worst evil in others. For me I am standing behind you, And I hope and pray everyone else is too. You are underpaid, misjudged, abused At times when you should be receiving Accolades of appreciation. You are heroes and should be treated accordingly. Yet regardless of Homeland discord You cross the line of fear To sacrifice yourselves To pay the rent That people like me might live In this Place of Freedom. How can I possibly find …the right words That would convey The magnitude of my thankfulness To you. I do stand behind you... Thank you is so inadequate But I do THANK YOU. |

BRAVO!!!!...You say it perfectly and even though I am Canadian I feel and share your support...We aren't the ones putting our lives on the line so we can't totally understand but we can be supportive...Wonderful writing...*Big Hugs* |

War, can only be smoothed out by the cloth of part of life. Whatever happened then was not important. After all, you survived. You survived not only for yourself, for your family but for all those death including your side or other side because a life saved is a life saved during all cruel war. Life shall go on. I believe that everyone, including the dead ones wish the living ones to live happily and courageously. Very good poem. |

I have missed your 'spirit' on these blue pages! An exceptionally moving tribute to those to whom we owe so much. May all the suffering on all sides forever cease and may all return home safely to their families. Love, Harmony, & Peace, EA ![]() |

I kept trying to highlight the lines that most moved me... only to find I was repeating the entire poem. *S* So I'll simply say... Bravo! *S* |
