Again a dark night with restless stirrings in the wind And shadows dancing the walls. Aware of your misgivings, aware of your discomfort. Sensing your disquieted mind and wondering, Why doesn’t he just call. I’m awake. I’ve been awake since ‘92 and meeting you Took me even further back, Remembering then and wondering why Startled and afraid again to view your eyes. The eyes that saw my heart ablaze laid upon Albigensian cave’s stone altar there with John’s and Mary’s words engraved in my soul. I knew then that we, you and I, were but one whole. My fear in the remembering was of that moment’s loss; The memory was of losing self; Losing self; not losing soul as I had first believed. But I had not been there before, To the point of losing self, you see. Where did I find courage to die in the fields below the cave With inquisitioner’s watching us smolder in fiery cornfield graves? Our ashes scattered with the wind. Now, we’ve found us once again. So fear, yes fear, afraid of you, afraid of memory, Afraid to relive that moment of truth – That loving you meant losing you But gaining you. Our souls knew then, but you, too, Now run from truth, afraid to dream at night; You might remember something And for that, there is no time. Think I’m nuts and you try to hide. It’s easier to ride the waves of now. There’s enough fixing karma to last this lifetime, you say; There’re enough deeds to redo and debts to repay. There’s no room to love me that way, That way that we died to then, But you do and I know that, too. Fear, yes fear, of being that brave again. You’re still my hero, you know. Show me you are Brave enough to surrender to that mighty force we’ve known. To die within a single kiss, Die to be reborn. |

grinning...you and I have been playing in the caves of the mystery religions again. The synchronicity of this made me smile, and as did your take on the ritual(s). I'm liking Quakerism more and more yanno. ![]() |

Aha, my friend! There is more to this mystical write than meets the third eye! ![]() A compelling read ~ and is stirring on many levels. Beautifully scribed, brave sage of many incarnations. May all your Soul Memories be sweet ones, Linda |

Hi, Jo - Having been without power for three days, I feel as if your poem has turned on the light but, yes, a mysterious light that needs a closer look. You took me from the mystical to the physical and then suspended me between the two - or the one - but either way a trememdous write. *hugs* Helen |

Thanks ya'all for reading. This one was a very personal musing as you can tell and it just had to come out. Glad you liked it but a little surprised as I did not know if it would make any sense to anyone but me. *hugs to all*.......jo |

To walk with knowledge born of whole begat of ageless power of soul from times when stories made of man destroyed the ones where power ran. In name of church and fear of earth inquisitors killed all who's birth carried on the ways of old and threatened church's lust for gold There now remains all but a few who's birthright lets old ways shine through. I know I've met them, felt their pain as in past lives I've died again. 'Tis true that evil scours the earth, but of man's greed, and not of birth. I pledge my knowledge to the light and hope one day earth wins the fight. Iliana, For several reasons your poetry reminded me of a few journeys I have made. I hope you do not mind my rantings relating to these as I feel they seem akin with the journey you take us on in your poetry. Namaste, Ivor |

I was going to attach a link to an old poem of shadows dancing... but the life of this poem spoke to more than a simple girl's dream... and it even spoke more than to life, itself, but the promises within that keep us putting one foot in front of another from day to day... a promise intangible, but still...the one we draw upon in order to breathe. |

quote: Very involving write, dear Jo. Sometimes new horizons (in spiritual beliefs) not only bring new knowledge, but they also bring some confusion, because we carry our own roots within us forever. "Dying" for love is still IN! Enjoyed your masterful piece greatly. Love, Margherita ![]() |
