Ashes
By Paul Wilson

So you want to say goodbye
and revel in my sorrow
This would bring you joy
at my expense

Temptation sits on shoulder
waiting for the perfect time
Pockets empty of all hope
the wind is calling me home

Turn the page face my fears
I’ll be stronger tomorrow
I’ll avoid your foolish ploy
ashes all that remain

Keep some if you like
in that memory you wear
Tomorrow you’ll forget
everything we never got to share

Throw my ashes
upon the winds of time
My tears forever
have run dry

No box for me
nor cold hole in the ground
I want my ashes to soar
beyond the highest clouds around

Hide your tears of sorrow
don’t let them fall on my account
Your tears and my ashes
like us would never mix very well

One last thought
before I go
We might not see eye to eye
but I will always love you so

... and this last thought brings everything together into balance and into the right light.

This is very beautifully written, dear Paul. The pain is tangible.

Love,

~ "the wind is calling me home"

~ "No box for me
nor cold hole in the ground
I want my ashes to soar
beyond the highest clouds around"

Paul, the entire poem is quotable, however, the above lines, I found to be especially moving.

God bless you, dear Poet Man,

Linda

its not the way we lived our lives but the sum of all of the ways that will take us higher .....

we tend to linger bad before accepting good

this is so good ... it belongs on upon a mantle in the open!
