It's likely that we'll get along,
even fall in love
in a moment of downing liquor-

and so what if a false sense
of happiness is shared?
Life is just a flicker.

And happiness is happiness...
regardless of how it's met,
no matter the scheme or intention,
it's not easy to forget.

So yeah, I'll take a chance on you,
if only for a night,
then you can't say "you never know",
whatever happens will be right.

Two lonely people, may write poetry,
what a duet we'd make!
even it it's not real at all,
I'm ready for the break
where the river swiftly bends,
regardless, I know we'll still be friends.

Good morning, Ms Dix.

This line from a song popped into my head as I read your poem. "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread." lol

May that river be a gentle one! I wouldn't want to see you swept away in a raging current! Mind you, that does sound like more  fun than floating down "Moon River"! lol

Be safe! Be happy!

you've got me singing too...

"Look at the stars so far away
We've got tonight, who needs tomorrow?
We've got tonight babe
Why don't you stay?"

and yes
happiness is happiness

this one really got to me Dixie

I completely understand!!  It is better to see what may happen, than to live in doubt of what could of been!

I live by that rule most of the time, and well fell a few times, but I don't live in doubt... and regret nothing..

Go for it!!  If only for one moment of happiness...

Beautiful I enjoyed every word

Thank you for sharing!!

Dixie girlie, the line that popped into my head while reading this is the one I've lived by for a lot of years now ...

~I don't regret the things I've done .. but those I did not do~

you're right hon, happiness is happiness, grab it and growl ... and there'll be no "what ifs" later to wonder about *smiles*

I have found that happiness comes in making right choices...
and suffering by making wrong choices...
at least that is our measure of control...
Having experienced both, I have no answers, only my desire to try to make the choices that are best for me...James

What a lovely poem.  Thank you.  My soul always feels lighter when I read your lovely words.
