Good Enough

Since a young age I’ve been different
Never really fitting into the norm of things
Some would say, I’ve disappointed them
Because I wouldn’t do what was expected of me

But was I really a disappointment?
Was I not good enough?
Did I really need to fit into the norm?

I always thought I was being me
Not really acting out rebelliously
Never tried to prove a point
Just wanted to be accepted for my true self
Was that too much to ask?

Was I expecting too much from the norm?
It seems I did..
Because am still misunderstood
It hasn’t really changed much
I have grown immune
Things just bounce off
But deep within me,
I feel the pain of being different
I cry within, no more tears to shed

All I want is to be me
To be accepted
To be loved unconditionally
To be held without judgment
Have I been asking for too much?
Am I not good enough…….

seems to me that is all anyone ever really wants. Sad it's so hard to really have and no, it's not asking too much.
