Between the Lines

Wondering whether it's worth it all
the fighting, continuing on.
The price of life its highest now,
the struggle each day as its pawn.

Pressing each worth from the moment's given,
forgetting the worst that's at hand.
Ending the day with negative news,
enduring what's written in sand.

Trying to end just a part of a life,
without holding onto the dread.
Sometimes I wonder, too often what if ...
I just leave my emotions for dead.

Feeling the sadness, masking the day
to push through the weeds of this Spring.
Missing the missing that's hiding out there
with renewal too distant a thing.

It's all about me, though selfish in thought
an existence eked out, want in need.
Or is that a need that is really in want
as I swallow these words that I feed.

Tread lightly, each step to reach all those goals
Just one would suffice at this time.
Standing alone with the whole of my heart
I continue despite...this in rhyme.

Love the last line - it took me by surprise. The rest however is pure Naked Thoughts poetry, poetic and heartfelt.
