Poop In The Soup

I went for a walk down on Sycamore Street
Then stopped in a place for a quick bite to eat
I ordered my food and some water to drink
Ijust started eating when what do you think?

My sandwich looked good so I took a big bite
But then I saw something that gave me a fright
Something was splashing around in my cup
I looked down at it, as it looked right back up

It smiled there at me as it gave me a wink
Then kept right on splashing around in my drink
So picking the glass up I gave it the eye
It was then I could see it was only a fly

I plucked the fly out but he jumped right back in
And started to splash in my drink once again
Why would you jump in my drink little fly?
Oh why would you do that, oh why, why, why, why?

The little fly smiled and he said this to me
“I’m trying to take a quick bath, don’t you see?”
I said “This is pretty cold water I’ve got
Why don’t you go bathe in that big steaming pot?”

He said “Silly man, you know nothing of flies
There’s soup in that pot and you don’t realize
A fly would not ever go bathing in soup
We only go there when we must take a poop”

Now this really made me upset with the fly
I got very quiet, as I looked with a sigh
At the big empty bowl sitting there by my plate
Was that pepper I’d seen in the soup I just ate?
