. That chicken Pushkin Was known throughout the land Apparently . . Hens used to come From other yards for miles around When their usual rooster’s back was turned To hear his latest morning poem High up there on the barn Love or war It made no difference to his craw He had in fact one simple rule Whatever it took of cluck in verse To get those birds to lay Then one day When we had as guests Poets averse to such companionship Pushkin concluded his linguistic pirouettes On a plate Finis . |
