If I become a phoenix
in the ashes of my cigarette
burning just to be reborn
a million lives
held in a flame

I promise I will not burn out

for you
I will let my fire
spell freedom in the clouds
with smoke on the tips of tounges

if we open our mouths
and let the air rest gently
there will be no boundry
between sparks and embers

I promise I will not burn out

passing shadows
