Once upon a 'dillo |

The sun was hot and so was I, I had no spit, my mouth was dry, Twenty miles outside of town, With a broken leg, my horse was down, West Texas heat was killin’ me, I’d not live to twenty-three, I had no food, I had no water, And the sun got only hotter, I had not eatin’ since I left home, A heck of lot longer than this here po’m, When up ahead I spied some meat, An armadillo that I could eat, That ‘dillo stank, it was long since dead, In my stomach, I felt true dread, Should I eat, or should I not? That rotting ‘dillo didn’t look so hot, Well I decided to walk on by, Beneath that blazing Texas sky, Of eatin’ ‘dillo, I would forget, I wasn’t quite ready, to digest yet. |

lol i dont know if this is a humorus poem or a metaphor. Nevertheless seems to me that at times it's better to pass on by something that we know that is not good for us no matter the situation. ~Bill |

You know the first time I visited Texas was the only time but I saw an armadillo one night for the very first time in my entire life. I screamed so loud I am sure I woke the neighbourhood. I had never seen a rat in armour before! Man, those are ugly little critters, and your possum thingees don't follow far behind. Welcome to Passions, I know I am going to love reading your wonderfullly funny and creative poetry. |
