outlet mall

it is my gentle revenge

while she shops the outlet stores for gifts
she'll give to other women's babies

I go to the book place,
glean the best of their left-over poetry

I don't have time to swim through
the relentless sidewalk, won’t give it

and they wait for me, the books
a shabby burlesque and I need a show

I finish before she's done, every time
but I always buy

I have a lot of books

Ed.....I hate shopping, mall or even (I'm sorry) bookstores. So, I can understand this because I go shopping at bookstores when I am desperate for something new to read. I have alot of books too.

That's as it should be.... There's great joy in reading while naked....especially if you're reading, um, aloud.....

ROFLMAO... I had this great reply... and then lost it AND the drink I'd just swigged when I saw your reply to Sunshine! LOL

Now... where was I? *G* Oh, yes... *S* There is a sadness and resignation in your words (the poem, I mean... just to be clear *G*)... Even though I normally hate to shop, I think of a visit to a bookstore as a joyous event, not a refuge...

But at least you take home something positive... and we're the real winners, getting a great poem out of the deal! *S*
