I'll never buy another used piece of furniture for fear someone's dead grandmother will sit, unseen, in my living room. It seems the dead get attached to the things they used in life, and just keep on using them. Dogs and children can see them, gossiping and crocheting on the couch, or sitting down to turkey diner in the dining room. If I reach for the salt will I feel an unseen hand pulling in the opposite direction? Or, heaven forbid, sit in the same seat with someone's maiden aunt? Better to just buy new furniture next time. |
