If you haven't heard about the problems at Walter Reed Army Hospital go to (try to read all if it doesn't make you so po'd you can't) > http://www.oregonlive.com/news/oregonian/index.ssf?/base/news/1172114724227180.xml&co ll=7 http://www.mediainfo.com/eandp/columns/shoptalk_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003548374[/UR L] [URL=http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17245475/]http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17245475/ PUBLIC SERVANTS? Why should be surprised, again That those who have all the powers Don’t look down and see the others From high, in their ivory towers. It’s the same old, tired story They say, "We just didn’t know!" Because those who serve under them Just failed to tell them, what was so. It’s another case of Veterans Of the Wars they fight for us Coming home to be forgotten By those, they’re supposed to trust. They get tied up in the red tape And then get shuffled here to there Instead of being treated with respect By those, who are supposed to care. All those military bureaucrats Twist the truth to find a way To get out of those benefits That, they once promised to pay. Those "throw-a-way" Soldiers Who have fought and paid our cost Who then, look for decent treatment Far too many times, are lost. When they serve us, we love them Our Heroes, each and every one But, why do we forsake them When, their fighting days are done. Our Service People deserve better Especially, when they come home And their Families, all our support So they know, they’re not alone. We’ve seen stories about Fisher House That’s more, the way it should be Except for all heroes and loved ones All of that care should be, free. It’s a small price for us to pay To all those who pay the highest cost For us to have all our Freedoms That, so easily, could be lost. Just, another sign of the times Of those who lead us off to War Who think all the People serve them Instead of how it used to be, before. It’s about time, "We, the People" Take a stand, and tell them so "It’s the other way around! You’re our servants, don’t you know?" Somebody should be fired Starting there, up near the top And this mistreatment of our Heroes Most definitely, must stop! To all veterans and friends, A few weeks ago we asked our patriotic supporters which issue they thought was most important to our troops and veterans. Thousands of concerned citizens spoke… and we listened! Over 63% of those who responded to the 2007 Help Our Heroes Survey said that reducing the extended waits for VA medical care should be Congress’ top priority for our veterans in 2007. Help Protect our Veterans! Sign the 2007 Help Our Heroes Petition. Click here to add your name now. http://donate.vfw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=2007_February_Viral_Survey_Redirect&autologin=true&JServSessionIdr001=rfsurwp632.app7a Help us reach 20,000 signatures by March 6th! The VA backlog is at an all time high - over 800,000 cases - which means extended waits for healthcare and benefits. We can’t stand by and let our newest veterans struggle to survive after they leave the battlefield. Those 800,000 cases represent real people -- veterans who’ve served our country and their families -- who need our help and are not getting it. We need to reduce the VA backlog and extended waits for healthcare NOW.That’s why we are conducting the 2007 Help Our Heroes Petition. Now is the time to remind our leaders in Washington to keep their promises to care for our troops and veterans on the battlefield and when they return. Please add your name now. The more signatures we have, the more powerful the message we will be sending our leaders. We want to deliver the petition to our leaders on March 20th, the 4th Anniversary of the war in Iraq, so we need all signatures by March 6th. Let’s honor the sacrifice of our troops and veterans by holding our leaders to the promise they made to our defenders. The promise to care for them and their families in return for their brave service. Please sign the petition today! Our goal is to gather 20,000 signatures so please forward this email to your family, friends and co-workers. Ask them to join you in demanding veterans' issues are a top priority in 2007. Thank you for supporting our troops and veterans. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Support the VFW - Click here now to make a secure online donation to help support our crucial work on behalf of our troops and veterans. Yeah, pretty damned sad and a crime against our own, that people don't want to talk about or admit, just like all the other wrongs against the real people who make this Nation what it is but keep silent and let our supposedly "God Given Rights" be taken away. Yes, very sad! Del "Abe" Jones |
