If I lay my hand on paper, it should not be; Pardon me. What is yours is yours. My finger, naughty one, has a tendency to explore. My apology. If I enter your seascape, Should I knock before I touch? My appetite for color, leads me too spontaneously, through the surf of a brush. Such artwork should not be touched. My apology. If I should impale a quietitude when bursting through the room, I’ve forgotten Respect for privacy my parents tried to groom; My senses are too strong. Yet, they are too weak. My energies Should look before they speak. Again, my apologies… |

If I should impale a quietitude when bursting through the room, I’ve forgotten respect for privacy my parents tried to groom; My senses are too strong. Yet, they are too weak. My energy Should look before it speak. This was done with compassion for anothers space...and believe me, I'm as guilty as anyone for doing the same. Tend to want to help rather then harm, but sometimes, it is just not viewed the same...that is what makes us who we are, different strokes for different folks...amazingly beautiful sentiments from a wonderful poet. LeeJ., You impale the silence of a room? All too easy it is, especially when trying to help, as you said. You're right. We are all so different and have different ideas about space. Mine today, is more like outer-space, if you know what I mean! And, the worse part is some people are too kind to tell you when you violate their space, sooooo, how does one improve (or even need to if one doesn't know whether or not she's violated someone's space)? Oh, food for thought anyway... Thank you for you kind response. I always enjoy hearing from you. I hope your weather there is improving! hugs, too, miscellanea |

miscellanea, Oh how I love this... Years ago when my children were very young ones in school, I volunteered to take on a library class during the summer. I was given a room at the school and the permission to take them to the library which was no short walk. We chose books for me to read to them and discuss. One book was about giving people their privacy. I had an imagination then so I had each child seek out a space in the room. Under a table, in a corner, by the cloak room, any where they felt comfortable. We read one book about a Father reading his newspaper and discussed how that was his quiet space and we would respect that and not bother him unless it was very important. (A bathtub in the room would have been fun!) It was so interesting hearing their thoughts on this. I also loved the book, The Blueberry Pie Elf and quite a few others. Thanks for the memories, martyjo |

martyjo, I bet that is a summer's lesson the children never forgot! (It would be loads of fun to find that special place in the library to call your own.) The intent of your lesson sounds like one Mr. Roger's would have shared. Thank you for the kindness of your response. miscellanea |

"My senses are too strong. Yet, they are too weak. My energies Should look before they speak. Again, my apologies…" ~ Apologies, accepted! Miss C, please accept my own apology for that cavalier response of mine! As per usual, I enjoyed reading your thoughts! ![]() Linda |

The teacher in you the compassionate in you wrote this... and how amazing it encompasses not just the teacher but oh so many lives.... where one reaches for a not so respected privacy in this time.... but at least you know the courtesy of, and what least you need to give, an apology. ![]() Dear girl, I so remember our time! |

This is a wonderful poem. I especially like the second verse where it reads "My appetite for color, leads me too spontaneously, through the surf of a brush. Such artwork should not be touched. My apology.". I find that very descriptive and easy to interpret to mean what you want. For instance, I see that to mean said personality is loud and fun, and the opposite personality is like a piece of art that shouldn't be altered. It really is lovely. Nice poem. April-Lyn |

misce This poem made me think of my inclination to touch art in form, especially sculptures..it is for me almost impossible to stay behind the rope that is supposed to keep me out. ![]() |

Thank you, Poets, for all your kind responses. Yes, it is about artwork mostly, and Martie, you might see me, too, tipping over one of those ropes around the exhibit one day! I tend to stretch and stretch and stretch to the point, I become almost out of balance! Wishing you good days ahead... hugs, miscellanea |

If it's mine....cruise right in. Chances are, you'll improve it, and if not, well, what's a picture for, if not to share? ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

Ratleader, Your art should be perused, not cruised! It's great to hear from you once again. Time has been a considerable challenge to me this year, especially, so I am unable to read as much poetry as I'd like. I remember your passion for writing... I hope all is well with you. miscellanea |

Cathy, you've brushstroked this blue canvas with profound truth with your 'space' write. Knowing WHEN and HOW to stay out of another's 'personal breathing space' is a key to survival in assisting individuals with emotional, cognitive and physical disabilities with challenging behaviors. I had no less than three 'reminders' in one evening this week with one client. We both had to 'back away' and reassess the situation, from differing perspectives. Fortunately, most of my clients are not physically aggressive. |
