The Long Winter The day became weary And sped out of sight. It was gray and so dreary- Void of sunlight. Nighttime came early Clad in white drifts And the tease of the wind Whistled in shifts. Enough! Said we victims, Cold and homebound Where icicles hung And temps had gone down. Oh, glorious visions Dance in our heads While rainbows of tulips Still lay in their beds. Oh, lay thee down, winter- Go swiftly away And usher to minds A springtime clothed day. Where trumpets of daffodils Spill by the streams And verdant green landscapes Are more than daydreams. |

Great poem, Barbara. I don't know why it has been so slow in The Corner Pub of late. Love, Joyce |
