Night Song

She sings softly, insistent
moving slowly forward
moonlight mist dancing.
Golden halo behind her
imaginary breeze lifting
did i hear my name?

A song for the ages
echoes thru my times
touches heart, then soul.
Having heard this forever
having seen her, but not
reaching for the mist.

Haunted by this vision
over and over dreaming
seen thousands, then more.
She stands singing softly
the tune within my bones
beckoning closer, calling me.

Can never see her face
can never quite reach her
can never really be with her.
She is shadow that breaths
she is wind that invades
she is my night song.

Surreal love of my life
swaying gently, outlined in gold
whispering the song, our song.
Wrapping myself in her
sweetest dreams of love
did i hear my name?
