In the season of spring,
the splendor of purple skies
is matched by the austere green
of a hyacinth stalk
that supports its amethyst blooms
radiant in sunlight—
as seen with an artist's eye
or held clear in a poet's mind.

In the season of spring,
my lassitude breaks
out from behind winter's veil—
and to my embarrassment
flushed blue in the fractured light,
I weep at the hyacinth scent
adrift on the breeze.

Ink runs from the corners of my mouth
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.

Very good. I appreciate the denouement especially.
