A Morning in October It’s a wild and windy morning And the air is full of sighs And the mist is drifting, drifting Where the reedy water lies. I can hear a raven calling As he rides upon the breeze And the leaves are falling, falling, From the lonely autumn trees. It’s a wild and windy morning And my heart is sad to hear The sound of wild geese calling From the higher atmosphere And the winter’s nearly with us, When the days are cold and gray And the snow is blowing, blowing, So I put my dreams away! Excellent, excellent... in both descriptives (e.g., the distant geese departing!) and in the rolling rollick of the reading, letting us know that the Poet winks at Winter, and the dreams are safely tucked away. This deserves a smilie.  I hope you have these poems collected somewhere---they are all very good. |

easy 1: Thanks for such nice comments on my work. I do have three chapbooks published with Shadow Poetry and a fourth that I wrote with another author, also at that site. I have several other manuscripts that I hope to publish in the next couple of years. Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |
