" A Dad " We honour special men today We bestow upon them our love and thanks Dedicate their livelihood in our lives They rate high up there in the ranks For all the times he might have scolded Perhaps disciplined in a way or two He loves you just as equally, even more so That is true For when he was a part of your birth And in your milestones in life to come He is your hankerchief for sorrow Your laughter companion at best Your cushion for fea Sharing his special brand of joy Not always obvious to show But definitely sincere Now he has evolved into seniorship His memory and health not always clear On the other hand In the prime of his life Glad to be here Take him by his hand A stranger in your care Visit him spiritually, physically Acknowledge you are there He is a brother, and uncle Grandpa and all that We put them through the wringer Haven't we all done that Perhaps the time has come When the journey of life departs Just remember him always As he walks along you forever In harmony with both your hearts Give him a smile Never be sad Forgive him if when mad After all, really A round of applause please Because indeed he is A Dad... © PurplePenButterfly~2008 |
