for Marge...you are loved ___________________________________________________ Swift blade of truth cuts deep it’s plain what can defeat reason’s harsh refrain The fight is long, a stubborn test of will faint chance at best to counter logic’s chill At first small hope did buoy the valiant heart but fated force beat back the gallant start Retreat and counter desperately the blows can I prevail unscathed, my Lord but knows Fight on with guile, I do not choose to yield nerve of iron sustain me in the field Is this the end, I dread to look and see rank sweat and tears flow hot and cover me A tattered knight sways drawn, in painful daze dull swoosh of broadswords slash the battle craze Great noble Sire of conflict, comfort me this effort does not alter destiny Though this day debased and harshly treated The body maimed, the spirit bruised, defeated Do not send vile white standards now to me I seek not lowly compromise, but victory the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
