Operation Christmas Child

Dear little one,
I see your shining eyes,
Sparkling at the marvel
Of such a grand surprise.

I do not know the color of your skin,
Indeed will never know,
But I can hear your squeal of pure delight
As you untie the bow.

The rules are very strict,
It has to be a regulation box.
It should be filled with necessary things
Like shirts, a knitted cap or socks.

Lovingly, I place the pretty doll
And all the things a little dolly needs.
Then fill up the empty spaces
With candies, gums, balloons and strings of beads.

When there is no room for another thing
That I can push or squeeze or shove
Into that regulation box,
I still find space for love.

Dear Joyce:

A wonderful poem and a great endeavor. i know several people who are also filling boxes for less fortunate children. I am merely contributing.

Hi Betty,  It is the most fun thing I do at Christmas.  My own grandchildren get so much that they are hard to impress. We send them through our church and November 11 is the day we bring them.  The pile is usuallly quite impressive and of course some people give checks instead.  Love, Joyce

ahhh..  I would expect no less from one such as you dear lady. You warm my heart with your thoughtfulness.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

My church participates in Operation Christmas Child, and one of our goals is too let the children receiving these gifts know that they are loved by God. I loved this poem and it made me happy to read it.

We are each of us angels with only one wing. And we can only fly by embracing each other.
