by Frank Lee Jennings I saw two Butterflies dancing today a waltz without music or sound they moved to a melody all their own swirling and twirling around Yellow on yellow the Butterfly day by threes and by twos and by ones zigzaggedly southward making their way to lands lying warm in the sun I'm filled with awe to see them float with purpose while floating along to the place where they're going zigzaggedly so, zigzaggedly dancing along They dance in October ahead of the cold ahead of the shortening days moved by the maker of yellow air wings by the maker directing their ways I don't know when the last one flies dancing along in the sky a yellow winged dancer sashaying south on a dance floor a thousand miles wide I'll think of them when skies are grey when sleet rattles down through the pines of the bright yellow dancers gliding along, dancing the winter behind KNOWLEDGE IS A DEFENSE AND MONEY IS A DEFENSE, BUT THE EXCELLENCY OF WISDOM IS THAT IT GIVES LIFE TO THEM THAT HAVE IT. |

Lovely poem and I too have been watching the butterflies getting ready to leave. Verey few of them left now so they are all the more noticeable. Trillium Betty Lou Hebert |
