Give me wings to fly Wings to lift me up To take me higher than I’ve ever flown I want to escape Lift me off the ground I need to find a place Free from thought and sound I’m trapped in my own body A prison for my soul My shy eyes hiding My spirit from the world Writing gives me perspective on myself Then I can put my looking glass back on my shelf And I want to know what you think of me I want to know exactly what you see Because I see myself in white Standing on golden sands And the sunset paints Wondrous colors on my skin Golden hair and Golden sands Golden skin and trembling hands Unsure of my place in life But I’m never going to give up this fight So I’ll keep dreaming I’ll keep believing I promise you I will never lose faith In myself or in you… |

pen and paper, i believe you already have wings...your mind and your imagination are your wings. I also see the potential for confidence and strength of conviction of belief from your words..."i will never lose faith in myself..." but, always remember pen and paper...always, always..."to thine ownself, be true!" You have used the mirror to reflect to yourself and the mirror has been placed back on the shelf. You must decide when it is time to step through the mirror and once you do take that step you no longer reflect to yourself but you reflect to the rest of world. Your poem is beautiful and it gives perspective into the idiodynamics of an intriguing idioverse. |
