When something catches my eye
Even something I do not need,
My mind tells me,"Get it Right Now!
Satisfy and feed your greed!"

Though of restricted finance
When something catches my fancy,
My heart races with desire
To obtain, makes me all antsy!

I know it's not right to do
And that later I'll surely pay,
But I'm caught in an euphoria
And feel I must have my way.

What is it, this "urge to splurge"
That I'm driven to do it's will?
Sense and logic fly out the door
And my feelings master me still.

To "Live the Moment" is a thrill
So caution is thrown to the wind,
But Time catches up, (don't I know!)
The "Urge to Splurge" is no friend!

Someone, please help me to find
The way out of this maze of mine,
Affliction of my addiction--
Be vanquished for peace of mind!

No longer to feed the greed
To find instant satisfaction,
For I've found the "Thrill of the Kill"
Not worth the first attraction!

I guess this proves you're human. You say it well this urge to add to our possessions. I turned to this corner immediately after putting in a big flower bulb order again for my spring gardening and chastizing myself for going over-board.But won't my yard look pretty in the spring? And they just got through planting thousands of bulbs in the fields behind my house. Nice to see you here. Love, Joyce

a penny saved is penny earned...though you can't buy much for a penny these days, i think its important to save while you are young. there is going to be a lot of rainy days and rainy days are good for clippin' coupons and watchin' the flowers grow! enjoyed the poem but get a grip on that spending habit. welcome to the pub.
