So don’t
Try to make me-
'Cause I’ll turn green
If I have to write
About Halloween.
I know you want
To hear some more
About goblins,ghosts
And all that gore.
But I ain’t gonna do it-
Not with a bribe
Of tens, twenties
Not even a five,
Would ever make
Me come alive
And write a poem
About vampire teeth,
Witch’s brew
And that foggy wreath
That encircles
The moon
When werewolves howl
And monsters croon
And then they prowl
Around tombstones
Deep in the night-
That’s exactly what
I ain’t gonna write.
