Sameness How silently the river runs deep and slow Wending its way throughout the County. It appears to have no beginning and no end, To the small towns that are settled on its banks. Far removed from the fringes of free expression, The townships follow faithfully The daily routine… of generations past As a foundation, for their every-day lives. Through windows, delicately clothed In panels of handmade lace, The slanting sunlight illuminates With tinges of rainbow hues, The interior plaster walls, Of small comparable cottages. There is no greed, pillaging, No coveting or jealousies… For all the populace, The common folks Are as equally poor As they are… Equally rich. The sunrise brings the day, The sunset…the night And always and forever Silently… the river runs deep and slow Wending its way throughout the County. |

Very, very nice. It sounds like a sameness that the rest of the world could emulate to its benefit. Love, Joyce |

SPIRIT: I really enjoyed this poem. I suppose because its atmosphere is so similar to where I live in the country. We enjoy the natural world around us and though we have no river, we do have two creeks and watch the rise and fall of water with the seasons. Betty Lou |
