Hi Joyce, I wrote that poem in 1993 and I happened to have found a copy this morning. I used to go to a produce market and buy nuts for the squirrels. One day I found heart shaped cookies 4 boxes for $1 the day after Valentine's Day. So all of the squirrels were carrying heart shaped cookies around the mobile home park. Barb |

Dear Barb: I had to laugh as we just put out a can of cashews for the squirrels this morning, as they were getting a little stale. They do seem to be eating them, but I haven't listened for any comments! This is so cute! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

a cute lil' tidbit. took me 3 years to discover a way to keep them out of the bird feeder! the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

lovely poem...i'm fond of the little critters...many,many years ago my grandpa had one that would shake the screen door when he wanted fed. when i went away to school back in the '50's, i was befriended by a female squirrel that would sit on my lap and take english walnuts from my shirt pocket. i hated the day i graduated because i had to leave her behind. a year later, when i returned to the campus, i went to the apartment where i had lived and call to her and to my suprise she came to me. |
