Biding It's Time

Our Hannah with her snaggle tooth,
Is prettier, and that's the truth,
Than any sultry movie star
Who gets her beauty from a jar.

She's just turned six years old and so
Her baby teeth are primed to go;
But one, reluctant to vamoose
Just hangs in there, relaxed and loose.

Our Hannah doesn't seem to mind,
She is not the conceited kind,
And has more things to think about
Than a laggard tooth that won't fall out.

If you chance to see beguiling grin
With a tooth that is more out than in,
You have seen our Hannah, there's no doubt
And her baby tooth that won't fall out.

Perhaps attach a little string
To rid poor Hannah of that thing?
But then again, we cherish youth
Best leave alone her baby tooth.

Oh Joyce, I remember this moment in time with both of my grandkids, and are they not just as cute as a bug in a rug?

Enjoyed your poem and the memory for me too

Thanks Mysteria.

Those who have offered their assistance
Have met with 6-year old resistance.
Though our sweet Hannah isn't vain,
She has a low threshold for pain.

It's so good to hear from you.  Love, Joyce

Hannah's patience, I admire
I'm sure she truly knows
anticipation is a factor
for the tooth fairy's BANK to grow !

Oh, how precious is this ... and it just can't be that she's already SIX !!!
It was yesterday, I tell you, yesterday that she came into our lives !!!!

Dear Joyce:

Such a cute poem and sure brought back memories of my early years. My dad's answer to a loose tooth was thread wrapped around tooth and doorknob and then the door was slammed shut!  No more tooth!  I always tried not to let him know I had one!

It's me again! I read this to a friend who was down in the dumps and it really cheered her.

When I was young a fairy came
and left a penny for my pain
It took my tooth and flew away
but now be real... this is today!

I feel the tooth will still be 'round
until the Fairy leaves a pound
For six years old are not so dumb
they don't know how to up the sum!

The moment created this second, is a  moment that's going to last.
It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.

Now there is a young lady with a lot of patience I'd say?  Good for her, I am afraid I wouldn't have lasted and pulled the thing out.
