~I don’t know where this one came from, but I guess that’s the basis of good poetry, no? Anyway, enjoy…~ When I was six years old, I fell in love with a mutt. And when I came home last year, he’d been hit by a truck. We rushed him to the vet, but he was fading fast, There wasn’t a dry eye when he took his rattling last. I cried for days on end, I found I couldn’t eat. All I could think of was his eyes, his tail, his feet. No one even thought to say “Hey, it’ll be all right!” It would have been nice to know that someone cared enough to lie. They say time heals all wounds, and I say that’s just bull, All time does is scars them over, gives pain room to dull. I’m not saying that it’s good, I’m not saying that it’s fair, It doesn’t make it any easier to be living, or breathing air. Dealing with loss is still too damn hard, But we are who we are because of our scars. When I fell for him, I walked on the clouds, I was so far up, I forgot to look down. When I finally did, reality hit me, And I had to kill my beautiful dream. “We weren’t right for each other,” I though to myself, but when I broke it off, that didn’t help. It’s my sincere hope that someday he finds a girl, Who without plane or travel, shows him the whole world. They say time heals all wounds, and I say it’s not true, Especially someone else’s would that’s been inflicted by you. Sometimes I sit with my head in my hands, And watch time fly by way of it’s sands. And not money or power, or wishes on stars, Will help me get rid of these awful stars. So when you came back, I was a little gunshy, I thought “What else do I have to go through with this guy?” The first time we met, the sparks brightly flew, You hurt me, and I know I hurt you. And now my heart’s in your dangerous hands, You may not be careful, I’m not sure if you can. Now, I’m not quite sure whether to trust you or not, But this is the moment, the iron is hot. They say time heals all wounds, and I say that’s a lie, Some wounds bleed forever, and these are the ones we try to hide. We know it’s no use, we know it’s no good, Some people see them, just like they should. I need you to be strong enough to catch me when I fall, I’m asking you to take me, deep scars and all. Dance like nobody's watching, |
