A high symbolic banner Waves freely on conquered land, Heroes of our country salute As they proudly take a stand Sincere fidelity charterizes These brash soldiers of war; They carried on, although Apprehensive of what was in store Homage should be given To these brave compliant men, For we would not have freedom If it had not been for them. These are not the only ones To whom we should give praise. For so many others have never Ceased to amaze. Patrick Henry, among others, Was an honorable man indeed. The famous words he spoke Have made for an memorable speech. "Give me liberty, Or give me death!" Until it was given, Patrick would not rest. If not for the resolve And the consistenct of one; Or America, what on earth Would have become? The deeds of this heroes Seem almost insurpassing, And the stories of their quests Will definitely be lasting. Thought of these men Bring nothing but pride, So do not let memories Of America's heroes die. |

Well, I liked this one a lot! And I have no idea why no one has posted on it yet but I'm honored to be the first. I love how you put P.H. in there and his quote, it was a nice idea. Thanks for sharing this piece; it's a nice reminder of how much thanks we owe to others. Thought of these men Bring nothing but pride, So do not let memories Of America's heroes die. This was a very fitting tribute to the heroes of our country . I also like how you put the pride in. THe last stanza really wrapped it all up too. |
