Why would you run from something you love,
If it brings happiness what would be the need?
You tell me you love me yet you run in return,
Why would you even bother to plant the seed?

You tell me with passion and love and grace,
That no other girl measures up to me,
Yet the minute I return any feeling the same,
You put up your armor of fears for me to see.

You delight in my love and my strengths,
yet love me through my weaknesses too,
So tell me why you would run away
If it turned out that I loved you?

Stop with the excuses, I can see the lies,
Just tell me why you really run.
I’m not stupid and don’t expect me to be,
I can already see the harm you’ve done.

You don’t run 'cause you are scared,
Or because of some of your other fears,
You’re running because you know,
You can’t look into my eyes full of tears.

Don’t lie to me, but ultimately not yourself,
You know that she has a lot to do
With the reason why you so suddenly ran
To me this should be nothing new.

So stop with the lies, stop with the shield,
Cause that suit of armor is needed no more,
I won’t wait around for you to come back
For me to mend the broken heart she tore.

I feel privilaged to be the first to reply. This is another great poem by you. I especially loved the ending, and how you used the metaphor of the armour. Great write.

There are hardly any words to express how much I like this poem! It was one of my favorites written by you, actually, it seems that every poem you write ends up being one of my favorites :P

Yet, this one was unbelievable to me, in a good way, of course. I can relate so well to this poem; I've known people like this...

I really liked this alot. I love how you ended it. The last line was amazing. You still write beatifully~

i liked this stanza specifically... that was truly amazing it had a nice flow and wasn't forced rhyming.
