I pack up my damaged heart, every single piece cuts a little more. I carry every open scar alone, Try to put together everything that you tore. I put all your things I remember, In a box to put away for years, Maybe it’ll gather dust And I can forget about all these tears. I’ll seal it shut with a binding red tape, in hopes of containing painful memories, Forgetting that you never quite felt the same, I have to forget all that you are to me, I can’t go on hoping one day you’ll see, All that I can be for you, Cause you’re my drug, present and tempting, And every time you leave it’s harder to get through. I fight and I struggle to let you go, It gets harder every time I take you back, Then when you walk away, I’m reminded even more of what I lack. I question every day whether You ever felt anything for me, Your words and your actions don’t add up, Is there something I didn’t see? I guess sometimes I just have to know, What you feel isn’t always a guarantee, But it’s ok because sometime, somewhere, I know that you loved me. -Erin |
