Let’s Pretend I walk this trodden path A never ending journey All that watches over me The sun that sits there burning The trees stand in tall salute Lining my way to destination The grass bows beneath my feet In respectful notification The only words that utter near Are trapped inside my skull The clear sky overhead, Sings in monotone dull I feel no fear trapped inside Ribcage that captures beating heart Looking back behind me I see no end nor start Silence screams inside my eyes Colours drip from peeling lips I feel sounds through broken fingers I walk in starts and trips The things around me make sense Painting overalls, loaves of bread Arms stiffened by my sides Stop me clawing in my head The birds speak to me, speak to me They whistle in my ears The scratch at shattered thoughts They peck at fat, red tears Simple stuff pass me by White paint, black suits, string It soothes me to a quiet peace It dulls that aching ring In my simple world alone It’s just m and just myself No one tries to speak to me No one calls me filth Just me, the birds, the sun No storms, no colour, no pain In my simple little world I can pretend I’m sane Thanks for taking the time to read. =] |
